Near Fort Worth, Texas, an active rail line running below Interstate 35 was closed when four 68-foot-long, 120,000-pound concrete box beams were set. The bridge beams are part of the new 27-mile TexRail commuter line that will connect downtown Fort Worth with the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.
Davis Motor Crane Service of Irving, Texas operated a Link-Belt TCC-2500 and TCC-1100 to lift the bridge beams on to piers, which were 26 feet above grade. The cranes and piers were located just south of Peach Yard near downtown Ft. Worth. Eight lanes of an I-35 spur were overhead, 48 feet from grade, which left the two cranes approximately 22 feet of space to lift and maneuver.
