Sims Crane & Equipment is adding four Liebherr cranes to the company’s equipment roster, an investment of more than $10 million. The cranes are the first Liebherr products purchased by Sims.
Sims took delivery of the first of three 330-ton Liebherr LR 1300 330-ton crawler cranes in November, with two more to be delivered by the end of the year.
The 330-ton cranes fill an important niche in Sims’ equipment line-up, according to Dean Sims II, Sims Crane Vice President of Marketing.
“The Liebherr 330-ton cranes nicely fill in the space between our 275-ton cranes and our 450-ton cranes,” Sims explained. “They will be ideal for projects involving highway bridge beams and stadium and hospital construction. We sent the first Liebherr crane out to a job site within a very short time of its arrival.”
Sims Crane also is awaiting delivery of a Liebherr 1500-8.1 550-ton mobile crane.
The acquisition of the Liebherr cranes is part of a three-year focus on equipment availability that will see Sims Crane invest more than $75 million in new equipment. Liebherr, based in Germany, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction machinery.
