- LTM 1070-4.2 and LTM 1130-5.1 for Bremerhaven, LTF 1045-4.1 for Bremen
- Approval-free mobility for flexible crane deployments is important
- Good Liebherr service and high value retention of the mobile cranes are important purchase criteria
Sommer Kranverleih GmbH and the new, jointly founded company KLS Kran- und Schwerlast GmbH have added three more Liebherr mobile cranes to their fleet. An LTM 1070-4.2 and an LTM 1130-5.1 are stationed in Bremerhaven, an LTF 1045-4.1 in Bremen. An LTM 1450-8.1 has also been ordered and will be delivered in spring 2020.
The two companies Sommer Kranverleih GmbH from Bremen and KL Schwerlast GmbH from Bremerhaven founded the joint company KLS Kran- und Schwerlast GmbH on 1 July 2019. Sommer and KLS operate more than 20 mobile cranes with lifting capacities of up to 500 tonnes. These also include Liebherr LTC compact cranes, MK mobile construction cranes and now also the first truck mounted telescopic crane LTF 1045-4.1. According to Managing Director Björn Sommer, “We can deploy the LTF 1045-4.1 very flexibly because it doesn’t need any special route approvals. The truck chassis offers advantages on the longer routes between Bremen and Bremerhaven, where we have been frequently on the road since the merger.
Managing Director Hagen Sommer explains the decision in favour of the new LTM cranes, “The capacity utilisation of our cranes is very good and we were still missing both of these crane types from our fleet. We purchased the LTM 1070-4.2 because it can also operate with an axle load of 10 tonnes. Approval-free mobility is becoming increasingly important for us. We are able to use the LTM 1130-5.1 well as a fast-erecting crane.”
The LTM 1450-8.1 that has also since been ordered operates in a very different lifting capacity class, but can also be used as a fast-erecting crane due to its short set-up times. It is capable of travelling on public roads with a 12-tonne axle load including its complete 85-metre telescopic boom and all supports.
The two companies Sommer Kranverleih GmbH and KL Schwerlast GmbH also offer heavy haulage and SPMTs. There are over 10 tractors in the fleet. Thomas Kronschnabel says, “The merger is allowing us to use synergy effects.
Sommer, Kronschnabel and Liebherr can look back on a long partnership of collaboration. “The service at Liebherr is excellent. Liebherr cranes also retain their value. We are able to deploy our crane drivers on different types because the crane controls at Liebherr are the same for every crane, whether large or small,” reports Hagen Sommer.
