After 33 years in the rigging business, David Cowley retired as an executive vice president with TNT Crane & Rigging, but it didn’t take long for him to get back to work. His focus now is on BOSS Crane & Rigging, which provides equipment and operators for the oil and gas industry, wind energy, paper mills, mining, and other industries.
Cowley joined forces with his friend David Lowry, CEO of Bennett International Group, after the two came up with the idea while on a fishing trip. They launched BOSS, which is an acronym for Bennett On-Site Services LLC, in January 2015. BOSS had one crane, and Cowley was the sole employee. Today, it has grown to 157 employees, 68 trucks, and 34 cranes, with offices in Harleton, Palestine, and Beeville, Texas.
