Lucille Mae Klabacka
ATS Specialized Training has partnered with the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Foundation to provide two grants in memory of Lucille Mae Klabacka, the founder of the training school.
Klabacka was raised in a mud house in Greeley Colo., where she met Robert Klabacka in 1945. After moving to Wisconsin in 1950, she worked while Robert attended law school in Madison, Wis. After that, she raised six boys in Madison and worked countless hours at the Diesel Driving School after it opened it 1963.
The Lucille Mae Klabacka Education Grant will provide four different NCCCO certifications, including Mobile Crane Operations – I (NCCCO Small & Large Hydraulic Cranes), NCCCO Rigger I, and NCCCO Signalperson, and a Class A CDL license throughout seven weeks. Courses are offered at ATS’s facility in Sun Prairie, Wis. ATS will offer one grant this year, another in the first six months of 2018, and a third in the last six months of 2018.
“ATS is offering these grants to give people the opportunity to enter this field who would not have the opportunity otherwise,” said John Klabacka, president of ATS Specialized Training. “Naming it after our mother shows much she did for the organization. She would be very proud to know that we are doing this.”
SC&R Foundation Grants are open to the public and are awarded to individuals pursuing additional skills or certificate programs at a technical/vocational school or two-year college. Grants are not exclusive to SC&RA member company employees or relatives.
