Liebherr is investing $45 million in the expansion of its Newport News facility in Virginia, USA.
The company opened the greenfield manufacturing and operational facility in 1970, to manufacture hydraulic excavators for the local market and distribute the company’s machine tools and tower cranes. The expansion will include the construction of three new buildings on 28 acres of land adjacent to the current manufacturing facility.
Once completed, the new facility will have more than 23,300 square metres of covered space. The new space will include Liebherr USA’s new headquarters and administrative building, a production and workshop facility, warehouse and distribution building. Construction due to begin in July and be completed by summer 2020.
