Manitex boom truck
CraneWorks is gearing up for increased demand in the energy sector by adding 31 new boom trucks to its inventory in 2018. The company has agreed to purchase $12 million in boom trucks from Manitex to add to its North American inventory, including the 35124 C, TC40142S, 40124SHL, and TC50155SHL. When the machines are delivered in 2018, CraneWorks’ sales fleet will increase by more than 1,200 tons of lifting capacity.
Manitex was one of the first manufacturers to introduce a 50-ton boom truck. Its TC50155SHL features a four-section, 96-foot proportional boom with a two-section, 32- to 49-foot telescopic offset jib option. The crane’s maximum tip height is 153 feet with the telescopic jib. The crane has a two-speed planetary grooved drum hoist with a negative draft flange and rope tensioner. An auxiliary hoist is an option. The hoist drum rotation indicator is standard and features a third wrap limiter under the indicator.
For operator comfort, the deluxe cab features a heater, air conditioning, heated cloth seat, and eight seat adjustments. Other notable items in the cab include a top hinged hatch, rear pop-out window with guard, front and top windshield wipers, 12-volt DC outlet, USB ports, and engine monitoring system. During operation, the crane is run by an electric hand and foot throttle, twin dual-axis joysticks, electric/hydraulic valve actuation, and electronic sensor monitoring. A free swing/no-free swing gear switch is included.
The Manitex TC50155SHL has a continuous rotation, 360-degree work area and uses the ROCSolid outriggers with radio remote control and audible motion alarm. Load charts are available on tires over the rear, as well as retracted, intermediate, and fully extended outriggers. The wired LMI has crane function cut-offs for overload protection, a graphical display, event recorder, and working area definition system (WADS).
