A worker on a renovation job on the Penn State University campus was killed Friday while dismantling a crane. According to a report from the Centre Daily Times, 29-year-old Jerod Chapman was killed Friday evening at the Burrowes Building where renovations are scheduled through the end of the year. StateCollege.com reports Chapman was killed when the crane he was working to break down swung and struck him. The site reports another worker “removed a pin†from the crane causing it to swing. Both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and P.J. Dick, the general contractor for the renovation, have launched investigations into the incident. A 2014 release from Penn State says the renovations will update “electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as reconfigure office and classroom space for greater efficiency and access.†Hours before the crane incident at PSU, an electrician was killed on the Baylor University campus in an elevator accident.
