This Terex DEMAG AC-700 is a 9-axle crane with impressive dimensions. The crane has a 60 meters main boom and can carry a maximum of 160 tonnes counterweight. It is also possible to equip the crane with 36 meters main boom extension, 50 meters fixed fly jib and 96 meters luffing fly jib. With these features a lifting height of around 150 meters can be realized. The crane is also equipped with a so called SSL (Sideways Super Lift). With the SSL the crane capacity is increased significantly in relation to normal SL or normal main boom configuration.
Safety measures
This new 700 tonnes crane is delivered with an extensive safety package that consists of features to work fully secured on top of the main boom and jib. In various places platforms and railings are placed to insure that employees can work safely at heights. Apart from the above mentioned safety features, like our 500 tonnes cranes, this crane is equipped with a hydraulic boom on the counterweight frame.
This hydraulic boom, equipped with a braking chute, makes sure that the employee, in combination with a leashed safety harness, is secured at any time during the (dis)Â assembly of these counterweights. More features are; Outrigger loading indicator and Refinery Kit (Electronic emergency stop, the engine can be stopped at all times, also outside of the crane). With all these measures, the crane fully complies with the EN 13001 standard.
First lifting operation
After the keys of the new crane were officially handed over to the operators by managing director of Wagenborg Nedlift, Mr. Klijn, the crane was put into action for the first time in the Eemshaven (NL). Together with one of Nedlifts’ 500t cranes, a 185 tonnes heavy hydraulic piling hammer was lifted from the quay into an inland ship.
