I.B. Dickinson & Sons Inc. Crane Service, lowers letters Tuesday from the sign atop the Sovereign Bank Bank building, Pottsville.
Mary Ellen Higgins, the bank’s director of public relations, said Tuesday that as a result of the name change to Santander Bank N.A., “the signs are being changed at its branches.” She could not speak specifically to the Pottsville location and what might happen next.
The bank has 718 branches in the United States. The outside of the branches will bear the new name, Santander, she said. The name change goes into effect Thursday.
Chris Bartush, top, vice president of Bartush Signs, Orwigsburg, guides the letter “e” hanging from a crane into the back of a truck. Crews from Bartush and Dickinson did the work. Bartush said that as of now a new sign will not be installed on top of the building.
