AKM Autokranvermietung GmbH took delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 mobile crane at the end of February. The Munich-based company is expanding its fleet with this new 130-tonne crane as it has been swamped with orders for crane work, particularly in the mobile crane class above 100 tonnes.
Managing Director Sven Bauer and his partner Christine Klenner took delivery of the new crane at the manufacturing plant in Ehingen. He said: “The LTM 1130-5.1 is a very good crane. Our experience with this crane model to date has been very good. As it can carry up to 9 tonnes of ballast with an axle load of 12 tonnes, it can be used effectively in the taxi crane business. In this configuration it can hoist 8 tonnes with a radius of 20 metres. That is an outstanding value and perfect for assembling prefabricated parts.”
Bauer also highlights the crane’s good lifting capacity values with a shorter radius. And with full ballast, its performance is outstanding in its lifting capacity class. The main areas of use for the crane will be industrial installation and structural steel work. AKM also ordered innovative features such as the VarioBase® variable support base and various camera monitoring systems.
The AKM Group operates around 50 mobile cranes with lifting capacities of up to 500 tonnes and a workforce of around 100 to operate the 50 cranes in its fleet. Most of the cranes were supplied by Liebherr. Sven Bauer provides some other reasons to buy from the market leader: “The downtimes of Liebherr mobile cranes are very low. But even if something does happen, the engineers are very quick to respond. The best expertise on the market at the moment. You can rely on Liebherr.”
AKM placed a large order with Liebherr at the Bauma 2019. In addition to various large machines, the order also covered a range of smaller cranes.
