Monday and Tuesday saw the return of a beloved sight on Oregon State University’s campus.
A tower crane was brought in to assist with construction of the temporarily named Classroom Building, located just west of Women’s Building.
“The crane does ‘weather vane’ when it is not in use so it is completely normal for it to be swinging with the wind when no one is around,†Construction Manager Amy Keene wrote in an email.
If the crane does appear to be swaying with the wind, persons on campus should not be concerned.
The hook of the crane rests 157 feet above ground, so it easily clears the tops of all surrounding buildings. The closest it could come to contact is the 10-foot gap between the hook’s resting height and the Fairbanks Hall Annex.
