With the compliance deadline for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration‘s electronic logging device (ELD) rule quickly approaching, the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association has developed a list of “Top Ten Questions to Ask Your Prospective AOBRD/ELD Vendor,” which is available on SC&RA’s Members Only webpage. The information was provided by SC&RA member Chris Nelson of ISE Fleet Services and was approved for distribution by the Association’s Transportation Group Safety, Education & Training Committee.
Carriers and drivers who are using paper logs or logging software must transition to ELDs no later than Dec. 18, 2017. Carriers and drivers who use AOBRDS prior to the compliance date must transition to ELDs no later than Dec. 16, 2019.
ELD requirements could pertain to crane companies operations as well. Nelson will present a session during SC&RA’s 2017 Crane & Rigging Workshop later this year on the necessary steps companies must take to ensure compliance.
