A man has been taken to hospital after a crane toppled over at a Melbourne shipping container depot.
The crane, used to pick up and transport shipping containers, fell in the West Melbourne yard on Monday morning.
An Ambulance Victorian spokesman said a man in his 30s was inside the crane’s cab.
He said the man was inside the crane’s cabin about 15 metres above the ground when it fell.
‘‘He was initially trapped and MFB crews had to cut away part of the cabin so that paramedics could get to him,’’ he said.
The man suffered extensive cuts to his head, serious arm injuries and possible spine injuries.
He was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
