Last week in Baton Rouge, La., the final Lift & Move USA event for 2017 was hosted by Deep South Crane & Rigging and Berard Transportation Inc. The event, which was drew in 650 local high school and college students, teaches about career opportunities in the crane, rigging, and transportation industries.
Prior to the Lift & Move USA event, Brett Berard of Berard Transportation said: “The key thing about the day is that students get to speak to people who are actually working in the industry. It’s not a classroom-style event. The students will see equipment and hear first-hand from workers who have made successful careers for themselves in the industry.” At Deep South’s facility, students were provided with an opportunity to speak with engineers, welders, crane operators, and other industry professionals.
At the conclusion of the day, several $1,000 scholarships were awarded by Associate Training Services. Drawings and cash prizes were also give for those making social media posts throughout the day.
Lift & Move USA is a joint initiative by SC&RA, KHL Group, NCCCO and the SC&R Foundation.
