Konecranes has received a two part RTG order from APM Terminals to equip its terminals in Algeciras, Spain and Apapa in Lagos, Nigeria.
Under the contract, twelve rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) will be delivered to Algeciras and four to Apapa.
Antoine Bosquet, sales director (IMEA), Konecranes/Port Cranes, said: “This repeat order for APM Terminals Apapa shows that our RTGs are very efficient, reliable cranes that APM Terminals is building its Nigerian business on.â€
The RTGs for Algeciras, which are scheduled for delivery at the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016, are high-performance, 16-wheel RTGs with a lifting capacity of 41 tonnes.
They will be equipped with Konecranes active load control system, that helps prevent container sway and improves container handling performance. DGPS Autosteering is included, which keeps the crane on a pre-programmed, straight driving path. They will also be equipped with a stack collision prevention system and Konecranes’ TRUCONNECT remote monitoring system.
Four Konecranes RTGs will also be delivered to APM Terminals Apapa in Lagos, Nigeria. This is a repeat order that will bring the total number of Konecranes RTGs operated at Apapa to 14. All 14 Konecranes RTGs are 16-wheel RTGs equipped with a stack collision prevention system, diesel fuel saver technology, DGPS autosteering and a crane management system. They have a lifting capacity of 41 tonnes and are also equipped with Konecranes’ TRUCONNECT remote monitoring system.
