Benson Crane’s Terex Explorer 5500
Benson Crane Service, Saugerties, N.Y.,has taken delivery of a new 2015 Terex Explorer 5500 from Empire Crane Co. This crane is Benson’s second purchase from Syracuse, N.Y.-based crane dealer.
The Terex Explorer 5500 is an all-terrain crane with a maximum lift capacity of 140 tons, a maximum boom length of 196.2 feet, and a maximum tip height of 283 feet.
“The reach was impressive for the size of the crane,” said Jim Benson, general manager of Benson Crane Service. “To have a mobile crane with that much boom easily puts our business into a more competitive category.”
The crane is currently erecting steel for the Queens City Lofts project in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The job is expected to continue through the winter.
