Heavy lifting and transport specialist Mammoet has ordered 14 Demag and Terex cranes. The order comprises: ten Demag all terrain cranes (including an AC 500-8); three Terex MAC 25-4 pick and carry cranes; and a Demag CC 3800-1 crawler crane. The CC 3800-1 lattice boom crawler has a 650 tonne capacity and is often used for constructing wind turbines.
According to Terex, other features of the new fleet include: the Demag IC-1 Plus control system to provide real time calculation of lifting capacities; and a single engine concept with an intelligent motor management system. A start and stop function reduces idle times and total engine hours, which contributes to the reduction of fuel costs and helps preserve the crane’s residual value, Terex claimed.
